Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is one of Japanese cultures biggest pop figures, starting off as a blogger and model, she has became a music super star over the last few years. As she is so popular in Japan, and my game is based in that country and I am aiming my game towards a Japanese audience or people who enjoy that culture, I wanted to see what makes her so popular. From her music videos, to her photo shoots, one thing really stands out, and that is her unique and imaginative clothing. She takes Harajuku, Lolita or traditional Japanese clothing and then customizes it to make it as Kawaii (cute) and over the top as possible. By doing this, much like Lady Gaga in the USA, she stands out from the crowd, even though Japan is known for its outrageous clothing choices. This is again reflected in her music videos, with the settings and characters used, but appeals to the masses with her simple and catchy songs, with easy to learn dance routines. Underneath are the images that I have taken most influence from, and which I think sum up her personality and style best. Hopefully from my game you will be able to see the influence in colour and clustering of objects.

  1. Hello, it's Bevolee (from Twitter)!

Just having a curious look at your blog and you have lots of interesting posts! I followed your blog too, if you don't mind? :)

I too like Kyary Pamyu Pamyu - I find her music catchy and puts me in a happy mood (esp. 'PONPONPON' and 'Tsukematsukeru') and her clothing matches well to her character. They've even opened a museum in Japan about her clothing, props and music (as stated on NHK world)!

Are you still studying at Leeds College of Art? If you are, I hope your course is going very well for you! I hope to see more of your work too ^_^

    All the best!
